Blink and You Missed It: Tulane Football’s 2027 Commitment List Surges from Six (6) to Sixteen (16)

New Tulane Head Coach Will Hall and General Manager Kelly Comarda have continued to stress both publicly and privately that the foundation of the program they’re building must be through high school recruiting. In the everchanging landscape of college football, where rosters are more expensive every year, the strategy makes perfect sense.

Think of the best teams in the National Football League – they are always ones loaded with homegrown, drafted talent, and then supplemented by choice free agent acquisitions. For Tulane to continue to have the level of success that we have all come to enjoy, they must recruit and develop high school talent. Look no further than the last three Green Wave teams for examples of the type of younger, homegrown players that were pillars of each individual teams.

In 2023 Makhi Hughes, Shadre Hurst, and Chris Brazzell were standouts despite totaling 51 career snaps entering that season.

Prior to the 2024 season, Darian Mensah, Matthew Fobbs-White, and Rayshawn Pleasant had accumulated just 99 career snaps, between them.

Last year, Reese Baker, E’zaiah Shine, and Jamauri McClure burst onto the scene in starting roles, despite having totaled just 65 prior career snaps.

Despite two dozen additions in the transfer portal, this year, the 2026 Green Wave team could and should feature a number of second and third year homegrown players who take advantage of their opportunity to play. Names that immediately come to mind are Warren Roberts, Jr., Jah’Rie Garner, Dominic Steward, Gresham Perry, Elijah Baker, OIiver Mitchell, Geordan Guidry, Nik Alston, PaLanding Drammeh, Josh Lewis, Shaun Nicholas, and Josh Sims.

So, with that in mind, it should come as no surprise that the Green Wave staff have made tremendous strides adding to their class of 2027 class, taking advantage of the May 28-June 22, 2026 period wherein rising seniors can take official visits to campus, ahead of the June 23-July 31 “dead period,” which is when no in-person contact is allowed.

Over the past several weeks, the list of commitments to the 2027 class has grown from six (6) to seventeen (17). Let’s meet them.
