Jake Weinstock recaps his observations from Saturday night's scrimmage at Yulman Stadium:
All three of Brendan Sullivan, Kadin Semonza, and Jake Retzlaff took reps with the first and second team offenses, and each had their moments.
Maurice Turner appears closer and closer to locking down his status as the lead running back, or at least as the 1A option. I still expect more of a committee approach than we saw during the past two seasons with Makhi Hughes.
Reese Baker took all of the first team reps at right tackle, with Darion Reed manning the same spot for the second team. That meant the first team had a lot of Landry Cannon and John Bock (who exited with something that did not seem major) at right guard.
Unlike Thursday, it was E'zaiah Shine and not Jayden Lewis taking the first reps at field corner with the first team defense. That particular position battle appears to be between those two men, with Troy transfer LJ Green seemingly being a bit behind both of them.
