Kelly Comarda to be named next General Manager of Tulane Football

Kelly Comarda will remain uptown, in a much expected move, and as noted by The Athletic (https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6895089/2025/12/17/tulane-college-football-playoff-group-of-5/) on December 18.

However, what was not noted by the Athletic was that Comarda will have an expanded role that includes more control over the roster in 2026 and he will be assigned the title of General Manager, after working hand-in-hand with Cole Heard under Jon Sumrall, in 2025.

Comarda resigned from his volunteer position with the Fear The Wave Collective in early 2024 to transition to a full-time paid position working directly with and for the University of Houston football team under head coach Willie Fritz, who had departed from Tulane just two months, prior.

In December of 2024, Sumrall hired Comarda to return to Tulane, but this time, as a member of the football staff, where he spent 2025 as the Director of Roster Management. This move to General Manager represents a promotion for Comarda, who will now be tasked with constructing the 2026 roster for/with new Tulane head coach Will Hall.

This is exciting to see this. The structure of the roster is going to be the lifeblood and we have a greenwave at the helm.

Tim. Great post. A heavy dose of perspective is also in order - 1 - ole miss is the 6th national seed and did go 11-1 in the SEC. ANY 11th seed needs everthing to break its way to win or stay close. That’s why there is seeding.

2 - I can’t be prouder of this team for raising the bar - really past 2022: regular season w 2 early P4 wins, winning a trap game v usa and huge late season away “must have” wins in Memphis and Temple. This team did grow and get better as the year went on-a huge achievement that can be a north star for all future teams
